Lab Exams will be done online at the end of the semester before the finals start.
This is an online Lab Course, which will provide 20 percent of the grade for Phys Courses. As such it will be necessary for each student to obey strict rules. For online Lab sessions and online quizzes, attendance by Zoom, using your proper full name, keeping your camera and listening device on is compulsory and a roll will be taken at an arbitrary time for each day’s session by screen shooting. The composition of the grade for each experiment will be: PreQuiz 2 pts, LabReport 12 pts. There will be a Final Exam at the end of the semester and it will be graded out of 6.
There will be 8 experiments. Each session starts with a 5 minute PreQuiz.
Phyl 101 Experiment sessions will be held every Thursday between 17:00-19:00 starting on April 8th, 2021.
Phyl 102 Experiment sessions will be held every Wednesday between 17:00-19:00 starting on April 7th, 2021
Phyl 201 Experiment sessions will be held every Tuesday between 17:00-19:00 starting on April 6th, 2021
Phyl 202 Experiment sessions will be held every Monday between 17:00-19:00 starting on April 5th, 2021
Lab Experiment Book can be reached both at Lab web page and also on Moodle..
Your lab Instructor will show a short presentation of the experiments in your lab textbook. Please read your textbook beforehand and carefully follow the experiments in the presentation. Immediately after the presentation you will be taking data while watching the DataVideo. You should have your textbook in front of you and open to the relevant pages so that you can record your data.
Once finished with data taking, you will analyze your data and write down your results.
You should prepare a pdf file of your LabReport pages and save them in your computer. Then upload this file to the assignment page. Make sure that you do all this by 19:10 PM on the day that you are scheduled for that experiment and your file is less than 2 MB. Max number of files are restricted with 20.
• Use a computer to watch the DataVideos and join the zoom sessions.
• Before each lab session starts make sure that you print the pages involving the relevant experiment of the Lab text book whose copy can be found in the lab web page (https://physlab.boun.edu.tr) or on the moodle page for your course.
• Keep Lab Book, pen, pencil, eraser, calculator, ruler, protractor, compasses, a few A4 sheets and your cell phone with you during the session. You will have to use your cell phone as a stopwatch when it is needed.
• FROM THE START OF SESSION you are given 2 hours to complete your PreQuiz, and LabReport, and you are given an extra 10 minutes to upload the pdf file to Moodle.
• You are expected to scan your Lab Report and, if they exist, additional materials as a pdf file.
• Name your pdf file “NameOfExperiment-YourName.pdf”. Make sure that it is less than 2MB. If the size of your pdf file cannot be less than 2MB you may devide it into a few part and upload them seperately. In that case use page numbers as file name.
• Upload your pdf file(s) to Moodle in the given time and do not forget to click submit button.
